Description
Porcelain Mug with glacier celadon over vertically webbed blue Mishima slip inlay.
Mishima pottery comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This surface design technique is a way of drawing fine lines by inlaying a slip of contrasting color into lines incised in leather-hard clay. This technique allows for extremely fine, intricate design work with hard, sharp edges that can be difficult to reliably replicate in any other way.
